TaxiTracker Privacy Policy

TaxiTracker is an app for taxi and rideshare drivers to log trips, distance, earnings and expenses. It is published by RUKAPPSL ("we", "us"). This policy explains what the app collects, why, and the choices you have.
1. What we collect
Account details
Your email address and password. The password is stored only in scrambled (hashed) form by our hosting provider. If you turn on two-factor authentication, we also store your authenticator key and your recovery codes in hashed form.
Location - only while a trip is running
When you tap Start Trip, the app uses your phone's precise location to measure the distance you drive, including while your screen is locked. A "Trip in progress" notification is shown the whole time. Collection stops when you tap End Trip. We store the trip's start and end points, start and end times and the distance driven. We do not store your full route.
Trip details you enter
Business or personal, the trip purpose, and the fare or earnings.
Expenses you enter
Date, category, amount, whether GST applies, notes, and any receipt photos you choose to take or attach.
Settings
Your country, vehicle fuel type, tax settings (New Zealand only), names of saved locations, and odometer readings.
We do not collect your contacts, microphone audio, advertising identifiers or browsing activity. TaxiTracker has no ads and contains no analytics or advertising tracking tools.
2. How we use it
Only to provide the app's features: recording your trips, showing your statistics, estimating tax deductions (New Zealand only), and creating the Excel reports you choose to export. We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.
3. Where it is stored and who processes it
Your data is stored with Supabase, which provides our database, sign-in and file storage and processes the data on our behalf.
App updates are delivered by Expo (Expo Application Services). When the app checks for an update, Expo receives basic technical information such as the app version, the phone's operating system and a random installation identifier.
We do not share your data with anyone else unless the law requires it.
Trips recorded without an internet connection are kept on your phone until they can be uploaded.
4. Security
All data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Each account can only read its own records. You can add two-factor authentication to protect your account.
5. Keeping and deleting your data
We keep your data for as long as your account exists.
You can delete your account at any time in the app under Settings > Delete my account. This permanently deletes your account, trips, expenses, receipt photos and settings. If you cannot use the app, email us at rukappsl@gmail.com from the address you signed up with, and we will delete your account and confirm by email within 7 days.
Deleted data may remain in our hosting provider's backups for up to 30 days before it is overwritten.
Excel reports you have exported and shared are copies under your control, and are not affected by deleting your account.
6. Children
TaxiTracker is intended for adult drivers. It is not directed at anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect data from children.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020, or the UK or EU GDPR), you may have the right to access, correct or delete your personal information, or to object to how it is used. You can see, edit and delete most of your data directly in the app. For anything else, contact us.
8. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date at the top.
